Drawing walls

Learn how walls form the basis for a clear situatieschema and readable floor plan.

Why walls matter#

Walls form the spatial base of your situatieschema. A clear structure makes it easier to place sockets, switches, lighting points, and other components logically.

Basic workflow#

  1. Open or create a project.
  2. Create a situation or floor plan.
  3. Choose the wall tool in the drawing environment.
  4. Place walls according to the room shape.
  5. Check corners, connections, and dimensions before adding electrical symbols.

Drawing accurately#

Use snapping and extend/trim when available in the active drawing workflow. Visually check that walls connect and that spaces remain readable.

Real editor controls#

While drawing a wall, click or press Space to place points. Use Shift for angle snapping, C to close a wall loop, Backspace to remove the previous point, L for a fixed length, A for an angle and Enter to finish. Escape cancels the drawing.

Walls use a construction centerline and a configured thickness. Outer and inner wall tools use the active editor settings for that thickness. The visible polygon is generated from that centerline unless the wall has been boundary-edited or extruded.

After a wall is selected#

  • Press E to extend the wall.
  • Press Shift+E to edit centerline or polygon vertices.
  • Press Delete or Backspace to delete the wall and hosted openings.
  • Double-click a wall to unlock one drag move. Hosted doors, windows and related objects are translated with the wall.

Openings and hosted objects#

Doors and windows are hosted on wall segments. Their wall cut is rebuilt from source wall geometry plus all active openings, so adding a third opening should not corrupt the first two. For detailed opening behavior, see Doors, windows and wall cutouts.

Common problems#

If symbols later appear unclear or illogical, the cause is often an incomplete floor plan. Correct the walls first, then reposition components if needed.

If a wall edit is rejected, the proposed polygon probably collapsed or crossed itself. Cancel with Escape or adjust fewer vertices.
