Add the electrical installation to a room

Place sockets, switches, lamps and consumers, then assign them to circuits.

Before you start#

Draw enough wall geometry to make the room readable. Symbols can be moved later, but a stable floor plan makes circuit work easier.

Place symbols#

Use the toolbar categories for sockets, switches, lamps, appliances and energy components. OhmCAD includes common sockets, switch variants, light points, wall lamps, TL lamps, household appliances, EV charging, heat pumps, ventilation and solar/battery components.

Practical room example#

  1. Place two sockets near the usable wall areas.
  2. Place one switch near the door.
  3. Place one light point or lamp in the room.
  4. Add fixed appliances only when they belong to the project.
  5. Move labels or symbols if the plan becomes hard to read.

Create the required circuits in the cabinet workflow first. Then use link mode, click a linkable consumer, choose the board and circuit, and save. Linked consumers show circuit labels on the plan.

Electrical properties#

Double-click a linkable consumer to open electrical properties. Defaults exist for wattage, voltage and AC/DC behavior by type, but you must review them for the actual installation.

Protection and phases#

Circuit protection supports fuse or circuit breaker, rated current, poles, L1/L2/L3 phase toggles, trip curve, breaking capacity and cable type. These fields affect documentation output, but OhmCAD does not certify legal compliance.

Review checklist#

  • Every relevant consumer is assigned to the correct circuit.
  • Circuit names are meaningful.
  • Protection and cable data are checked.
  • Symbols remain readable on the situatieschema.
  • The eendraadschema is regenerated after major changes.
