General editor shortcuts#

Shortcut	Action	Where it works	Notes
Ctrl+Z or Cmd+Z	Undo	Editor	Replays the previous editor history entry.
Ctrl+Shift+Z, Cmd+Shift+Z or Ctrl+Y	Redo	Editor	Replays a previously undone action.
Escape	Cancel or clear selection	Most active tools	Also exits link mode, measurement mode and selection mode.
Delete or Backspace	Delete selected item	Walls, openings, spaces, consumers	Some transform modes use Delete/Backspace to finish or cancel the transform first.

Drawing walls#

Shortcut	Action	Notes
Click or Space	Place the next wall point	Uses the active wall drawing tool.
Shift	Angle snap	Constrains wall drawing or extension to controlled angles.
C	Close wall loop	Available while drawing a wall path.
Backspace	Remove last point	Before the wall is finished.
D	Show dimensions	While drawing or editing supported objects.
L	Enter a fixed length	Wall drawing and extension workflows.
A	Enter an angle	Wall drawing input.
Tab	Switch numeric input field	Wall length and angle input.
Enter	Finish	Saves the current drawing/edit step when valid.
Escape	Cancel	Restores the state before the active tool.

Selected wall shortcuts#

Shortcut	Action	Notes
E	Extend wall	Starts wall extension from a selected wall.
Shift+E	Edit wall vertices	Opens polygon/centerline vertex edit mode.
Delete or Backspace	Delete wall	Deletes the wall and its hosted doors/windows as one history action.
Escape	Clear wall selection	Leaves the wall unchanged.

Vertex edit mode#

Shortcut or action	Result
Shift+click handle	Add a vertex to the current selection.
Ctrl+drag empty area	Marquee-select wall vertices.
Drag selected handle	Move all selected vertices.
Shift+drag selected handle	Constrain the movement to the dominant axis.
Right-click vertex	Open the alignment menu.
D	Open the dimensions modal for the selected vertex span.
Delete or Backspace	Remove selected vertices where the ring remains valid.
Enter	Save the edit.
E	Save and continue to wall extension.
Escape	Cancel vertex editing.

Doors, windows and cutouts#

Shortcut	Action	Notes
R	Cycle door orientation	While placing a door and a valid wall anchor exists.
Escape	Cancel placement	Doors, windows, wall cutouts and arc walls.
D	Dimensions dialog	Selected door/window or selected vertex span.
L	Lock/unlock	Selected door, window or consumer where supported.

Measurements and selection#

Shortcut or action	Result
Shift during measurement	Continue/chains retained measurements.
Ctrl+drag in selection mode	Pan the canvas temporarily.
Empty drag in selection mode	Marquee-select supported objects.
Shift in selection mode	Add or toggle items in the selection.
Enter during multi-move	Save the pending selection move.

Notes#

Shortcuts are context-sensitive. If another placement, edit, link or measurement tool is active, OhmCAD often refuses to start a second tool until you finish or cancel the current one.
