Polygon wall editing
Use Shift+E to edit wall centerlines or polygon boundary vertices in OhmCAD.
What Shift+E does#
Select a wall and press Shift+E to enter wall vertex edit mode. For a normal wall, the handles represent the construction centerline. For a historical or custom polygon wall, the handles represent the stored boundary rings.
How to edit vertices#
- Select the wall.
- Press Shift+E.
- Drag a handle to move one vertex.
- Shift+click extra handles to move several vertices together.
- Use Enter to save or Escape to cancel.
Selecting multiple vertices#
- Shift+click adds a handle to the current selection.
- Ctrl+drag in empty space draws a selection rectangle around handles.
- Dragging a selected handle moves the whole selection.
- Shift+drag constrains the move to the dominant axis.
Alignment menu#
Right-click a handle to open the alignment menu. It can align selected vertices on X, on Y, on both coordinates or along a typed angle. When at least two vertices are selected, the menu also offers width and height inputs for the selected span.
Dimensions with D#
When at least two vertices are selected, press D to open the dimensions modal. OhmCAD scales the selected vertex coordinates to the entered width and height and validates the wall geometry. For boundary vertices this can change a wall section's thickness. For centerline vertices it changes the path span, not the configured wall thickness.
Add and remove vertices#
- Shift+click on an edge in edit mode inserts a vertex near the pointer.
- Delete or Backspace removes selected vertices when the wall ring remains valid.
- A three-point inner ring cannot lose one vertex, so OhmCAD removes that hole instead.
Save, continue or cancel#
- Enter saves the edited wall.
- E saves and continues into wall extension.
- Escape cancels and restores the original wall.
Limitations#
OhmCAD rejects edits that collapse a ring or create crossing wall edges. If the update cannot be saved, edit mode stays active so you can retry or cancel.
