Editor settings and drawing defaults
Configure wall and opening sizes, snapping, history, layers, diagram style and default circuit protection.
Open and apply settings#
Open Settings in the OhmCAD ribbon. Wait for the saved values to load, edit the required fields and use the apply action. Review any validation or save error before continuing to draw.
Walls, doors and windows#
Set inner/outer wall thickness and default door/window dimensions. These are starting values for subsequent tool use. They do not reshape existing walls or resize existing openings automatically; select the object and use the corresponding edit/dimensions tool.
Drawing controls#
- Grid interval: the spacing used by grid snapping.
- Snap to vertices: use existing drawing vertices as snap candidates.
- Undo history depth: the number of retained editor actions.
- Layers toolbar: show or hide the editor layers panel.
History is an editing aid, not a backup or a project-save command. Finish or cancel the active tool before changing workflows.
Single-line diagram#
Choose OhmCAD Standard or Classic vertical. Applying a layout change refreshes an existing schematic; without a generated schematic, run generation afterward. Consumer/switch width, height and label size are also configurable. Inspect the diagram and situation plan after changing presentation settings.
Default circuit protection#
Enable the default-protection toggle to protect newly added circuits with the configured type, current, poles, curve, breaking capacity and cable. Turning the preset off does not remove saved protection from existing circuits. A preset change does not rewrite existing circuit values.
Cable placement and In buis are set on the individual circuit in Cabinet. Always review the new circuit and save any correction there. See Circuit protection.
Ohmie preferences#
Ohmie's own settings control its visibility, animation and guidance. Browser/account-specific help preferences are separate from electrical project data. Use the help library when you need the meaning of a workflow rather than changing drawing values by trial and error.
